Welcome to Outdoor Ed at EHE!

Forest School

All Kindergarteners at EHE attend Forest School once a week. We start each class with a community circle and a short lesson on Social-Emotional Learning (SEL). After that, students are invited to participate in self-directed activities in our outdoor classroom, encouraging exploration, creativity, collaboration, and communication. We love our time in nature together!

Please be sure to dress for the weather on these days:

Mondays: rotating schedule

Tuesdays: Mrs. Studeman

Wednesdays: Ms. Foster

Thursdays: Mrs. Brines

Fridays: Mrs. Lundh

Life Lab

Students in grades 1-2 participate in our Life Lab program. This outdoor-based science class weaves together natural sciences like ecology and biology with practical social sciences, including Indigenous studies, cartography, art, and humanities. The goal of the class is to develop good citizens with a rooted understanding of their role in our environmental ecosystems. Field science, nature journaling, and collaborative play all support a holistic learning environment for our young learners.

Outdoor Ed Clubs

While Lakers in grades 3-5 do not attend regular Life Lab classes, they have the opportunity to take learning outside through a variety of jobs, clubs, and field experiences. Current offerings include:

Recess Garden Squad (5th)

Friday Garden Squad (5th)

Weaving Club (3rd/4th)

Outdoor Ed learning modules (in collaboration with classroom teachers)
